Here's looking to a wonderful 2007!

15.5% - Not too bad. Health Insurance Coverage Secured, not bad at all AND more to come in 2008!

I am looking forward to assuming the Vice-Chair for Clerical Bargaining in 2007. I do have an agenda and it is about time we get down to work.

Check out Miss N's newest addition to her online portfolio here.

I am glad that my surgery is over and I thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I am now on the road to recovery and again, I thank you all for support in this. Sorry that I kept quiet about it, but hey, it is past now. I must say that for me, the scariest part was when that little nurse put that IV in! I had three hours to sweat that and boy, it sure was a long three hours! I do feel a bit lighter, I did lose a lot of weight over the last six months! Recovery is a bit rough though, I will take another week off and then maybe another . . . we'll just see how it goes.

Well, looks like the White Sox ran into a buzz saw this weekend . . . looks like a Yankee Sweep!

My new computer does not have a zip, jazz, floptical, floppy or diskette drive. Memory Lane Here.

As far as bargaining is concerned: we do not have a contract yet. There is no deal and all rumors to the contrary are just that: RUMORS! Get over it people.

Saturday's game at Anaheim sure was choice with Vlad's grand-slam putting the game out of reach! I really didn't care for the racist fan sitting next to me . . . I am glad that the Hispanic lady from Diamond Bar won the Caddy. Duh, she is from Diamond Bar for pete's sake.

Shout out to Gama: thanks again buddy. Couldn't have done it with out you. And while I am along this line of thought: Thanks Eva, I certainly did it WITHOUT you. Thanks for playing.

North Korea just needs to grow up - we simply need to ignore the child. I believe we should use nuclear weapons if we are threatened by that little country - nuke 'em all, South Koreans need to have property to keep themselves productive - think of the real estate 'boom'.

Anyway, our committee begins face to face negotiation with management now - we begin on Monday, July 10 and are tentatively scheduled for Mondays for the foreseeable future.

19 to 1? Well, I imagine that the Indians had their season highlight. Is it September yet?

Wow. Empty. I must say that my workplace was wonderful on Monday.

May 31, 2006 & June 1, 2006

Peace. Solitude. All is well.

Happy Birthday . . .

Our campaign to collect signatures for the 4/40 work schedule has collected over 200 signatures in less than one week! Our goal is 500 . . . we are almost there. This issue will be discussed with management during our next Labor-Management meeting on May 5, 2006.

Our next campaign will be to collect signatures for a massive movement at the Department: From April 17 to May 31, we intend to have all employees represented by Local 660 to visit HR and view their personnel files and request copies of our respective files and if necessary, file grievances to have documents that should not be in our files - removed. Stay tuned for details.

In June, our Stewards will move out to check work locations, update bulletin boards and get the word out: Things are happening and we have only begun!

We have plans to create regional meetings for our outlying yards so that ALL employees will have access to LACERA, Great-West (Horizons), PacifiCare, Kaiser, Delta Dental, Safeguard, and others. As it is today, only employees at the the Alhambra building have access to these entities. Lets change this.

I was elected to my bargaining committee and I was also assigned to the Ergonomic Committee as well.

Things are looking up for our next contract, we'll just have to see if the board unleashes their checkbook.

Enrique's Journey was brought back to life this past Sunday in the Los Angeles Times. You may find that original story here (you may need to register): Enrique's Journey. This six-part series is great stuff and moving. I recommend you take some time to read it and if you did the first time, take a trip down that lane again and re-live the adventure of Enrique's journey to America.

Are you coming back? premiered on 2/20/2006 and is only an excerpt.
